Visit the Giacometti Institute and Discover the Artist's Reconstructed Studio!

During your stay in Paris on the Left Bank, be sure to visit the Giacometti Institute, which opened its doors in 2018. Located in the heart of Montparnasse—the neighborhood where Alberto Giacometti lived and worked all his life—the institute is the premier destination to explore the work of the famous Swiss painter and sculptor.

Housed in an Art Deco private mansion, this intimate museum aims to immerse visitors in the very personal world of the surrealist artist. Begin your visit on the ground floor by exploring Alberto Giacometti’s studio, which has been entirely reconstructed. From his palette to the walls, every personal object of the artist has been carefully preserved since his death, allowing for an exact recreation of his studio where he worked for over 40 years.

On the upper floors, discover around fifty works by the artist, including pieces exhibited for the first time in 50 years such as "The Woman of Venice," one of his famous elongated sculptures.

The institute, which houses the Giacometti Foundation, also features a graphic art collection that allows you to explore the foundation’s exceptional archive: over 5,000 works including unpublished drawings and the artist's sketchbooks. This collection is available by reservation.

The institute hosts temporary exhibitions to showcase Giacometti's work. Until January 13, you can enjoy the exhibition “Annette Messager - Alberto Giacometti Our Rooms.” Portraits, drawings, sculptures, letters... the artist has selected numerous works by Giacometti and created a walk-through experience across several thematic "rooms."

The institute organizes guided tours lasting one hour to explore the studio and the temporary exhibition. To visit the institute, you must book online in advance.
